Gum evaluations
A deeper look at your gum health
At Ossett Dental Care, gum health is central to everything we do. Your gums form the foundation of your smile, and when they’re healthy, they help protect the rest of your body, too. That’s why we begin many of our hygiene treatments with a thorough gum evaluation — a detailed, informative session designed to assess your current gum condition and empower you with the knowledge you need to take control of your oral wellness.

Whether you're experiencing bleeding gums, bad breath, or just want to understand more about your gum health, this appointment is the ideal first step. Calm, comfortable and collaborative, our gum evaluations are here to help you feel confident about your care.

A deeper look at your gum health
During your gum evaluation, you’ll spend 60 minutes with Claire, our experienced hygienist and founder. Using the latest technology — including intraoral cameras, scanning imagery and high-magnification microscopy — we’ll give you a detailed view of your gum health, identify any inflammation or disease, and explore the presence of biofilm and harmful bacteria in the mouth.

This session is also a chance to discuss your lifestyle, risk factors, and home care routine, helping us create a tailored plan just for you. If treatment is needed, we’ll explain all your options clearly and guide you every step of the way. Because understanding your oral health is the first step toward protecting it.
Comprehensive Gum Evaluation
£45.00
The cost includes intraoral X-rays where clinically necessary.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a gum evaluation before hygiene treatment?
Yes. A gum evaluation allows us to assess your current oral health and plan any necessary treatment accurately. It also helps us set a baseline to track your progress over time.
What should I expect during the appointment?
You'll receive a gentle but thorough assessment using digital tools that show what’s happening below the surface. We’ll look for signs of inflammation, assess plaque and tartar levels, and explain everything as we go.
Will the gum evaluation be painful?
No — the process is comfortable and non-invasive. We use visual tools and scanning rather than sharp instruments, and our calm, respectful approach is designed to put you at ease.
Can I book a gum evaluation without seeing the dentist?
Yes. Thanks to Direct Access, you can book an appointment with our hygienist directly, even if you’re new to the practice or haven’t recently seen a dentist.
