Ossett Dental Care takes a compassionate approach to general dentistry, focusing on hygiene and gum health. Believing that wellness begins in the mouth, we provide patients with the time and support necessary to understand and maintain their gum health. Our emphasis is on preventative care, and if restorative treatments are needed, our dentist is readily available.

A hygiene-led practice focused on proactive oral wellness

Founded and led by experienced dental hygienist Claire Stott, Ossett Dental Care places hygiene and oral wellness at the heart of everything we do. We believe prevention is the most powerful form of dentistry — and that education, awareness and collaboration are key to long-term health. That’s why we take a co-discovery approach to treatment, using scanning and visual tools to help you see and understand your oral health clearly.

We offer a wide range of general dental services, but our care goes deeper than check-ups and fillings. Whether you’re visiting us for a gum evaluation, a hygiene appointment or a long-term wellness pathway, our aim is always the same: to help you feel informed, empowered and cared for.

Meet our founder, Claire Stott

The heart behind Ossett Dental Care

  • Currently pursuing an MSc in Medical Microbiology

In 2018, Claire returned to her hometown in Yorkshire, where she worked in various NHS and private-sector practices. Claire continued to progress in her career and was appointed an ambassador for the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT). She also took on the role of acting treasurer for the North East Regional Group. Claire maintains a close relationship with the society, being an active member and occasionally serving as a guest speaker at their study events. Additionally, she has authored a professional e-learning course designed to help dental professionals develop their knowledge in dental ethics and law.

Owning and operating her dental practice has been a dream 10 years in the making, reflecting Claire’s deep commitment to dentistry over nearly twenty years. We sincerely welcome you to our family and are here to support you on your journey to better oral health.

Phase Contrast Microscopy

In 2024, Claire travelled 4,000 miles to embrace an extraordinary opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Larkin, the founder of Proactive Oral Wellness and the developer of The Larkin Protocol. During this experience, Claire learned about the hidden bacterial world within our mouths - an exploration intrinsically connected to our overall systemic health and learned to evaluate dental plaque biofilms using the phase contrast microscope.

The use of a phase contrast microscope is included in all gum health visits at Ossett Dental Care. Patients will be able to see for themselves the levels of bacteria active in the mouth and will be educated in how to effectively reduce the bacteria levels in order to prevent and stabilise gum disease.
